Ever since I saw the ZooBorns book with the baby Fennec Fox on the cover, I’ve wanted to make one. I knew the ears would be a challenge. But I figured out a fairly easy way to create them.
I decided that this sculpture would be an adult, sleeping fox. That would make the ears a focal point of the sculpture. Here’s the video tutorial. There’s a supply list at the bottom of this post.
I started by creating a pattern (it’s a free PDF file).

- Small amount of reddish brown merino combed top

- 22g cloth wrapped wire

- Awl Larger with Wood Handle
- E6000 glue

- Hair Trimming Scissors

- Mascara Eyelash Comb and Eyebrow Brush
- Hair Straightener 1″ with temperature control
- Silicone trivet/pot holder to set hot hair straightener on
